Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov expressed concern about the position of UN Secretary General António Guterres, who is biased towards Ukraine regarding the conflict in the region.
Lavrov said in a statement to the Russian magazine International Life on Friday: “In this situation, we cannot but be concerned about the double stance of UN Secretary-General Guterres, who plays in real terms in favor of the West regarding the situation in Ukraine.”
Lavrov noted that “Guterres should represent the entire international community in accordance with his mandate, and not serve the interests of the “golden billion”.
He added: “It is not clear why the Secretary General of the United Nations is playing these games. We call on Guterres to abide by the Charter of the United Nations so that he does not forget the scope of his powers and responsibilities.”
