From March 25 to 27, Pyongyang once again tested an unmanned submarine capable of carrying a nuclear warhead in the Sea of Japan, the Yonhap news agency reported, citing North Korean media.
The agency reported that the North Korean media reported on new tests of the Hill-1 submarine from March 25 to 27, as the submarine was under water in the Sea of Japan for 41 hours and 27 minutes along the oval and in the form 8 in the specified water area, and reached the target on the morning of March 27 at sea off the coast of the city of Hude in the province of North Hamgyong, North Korea. The device succeeded in detonating an “experimental warhead” underwater.
“As a result of the tests, the reliability and safety of the weapon system was confirmed, and all the tactical and technical indicators of the submarine were carefully evaluated,” the DPRK Central News Agency said.
And the agency said in a separate statement that on March 27, North Korea carried out a simulated nuclear explosion using surface-to-surface tactical ballistic missiles at an altitude of 500 meters.
Japan’s Defense Ministry said North Korea fired two ballistic missiles into the Sea of Japan on Monday, flying at a distance of about 350 km and a maximum flight altitude of 50 km.
This is the tenth missile launch since the beginning of the year, and on eight occasions the DPRK has tested ballistic missiles.
