Polish Foreign Minister accuses German Chancellor of interfering in internal affairs

Introduction

Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau has accused German Chancellor Olaf Scholz of interfering in Poland’s internal affairs. This accusation comes after Scholz criticized Warsaw amidst a visa violation scandal.

Rau’s Response

Rau expressed his disapproval of Scholz’s recent statement on the social network “X” (formerly Twitter). He believes that Scholz’s words go against the principles of sovereign equality between countries, which are the foundation of good neighborly relations and friendly cooperation between Poland and Germany. Rau points out that the ongoing litigation in Poland has nothing to do with the jurisdiction of the German Chancellor.

Rau suggests that Scholz’s statements indicate an attempt to interfere in Poland’s internal affairs and the ongoing election campaign. He calls on the German Chancellor to respect Poland’s sovereignty and refrain from making statements that harm their bilateral relations.

Visa Scandal

Poland, as a member of the European Union and NATO, is currently dealing with a scandal involving the issuance of visas to immigrants from Asia, Africa, and the Middle East on false grounds. Reports reveal that approximately 250,000 individuals obtained “fake work visas” to enter Poland and then move to other European Union countries.

This large number of visas issued by a European Schengen country has put additional pressure on the immigration and asylum systems of Germany and Sweden, which are preferred destinations for asylum seekers.

Impact and Elections

This visa scandal is being regarded as one of the biggest scandals in Poland in the 21st century. It has the potential to impact the upcoming October 15 elections, with Rau’s Law and Justice party vying for a third term in office.
