Tbilisi, March 12 – Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili believes that the authorities are doing their best to obtain candidate status for an EU member state and the country deserves it.
The heads of state and government of the European Union agreed at the Brussels summit on June 23 to grant Ukraine and Moldova the status of candidates for accession to the union. The summit also announced its willingness to grant Georgia the status of a candidate for joining the European Union after it fulfills a number of conditions.
“Our country deserves the status of a candidate. If someone sabotages and wants to sabotage, it is these destructive anarchic forces,” the prime minister said in an interview with Imedi TV.
According to him, the leadership is doing its best and has already done a lot in this direction.
“I have said many times and I will repeat that, according to the ruling by Ukraine and Moldova, we know what is happening there … The latest EU report shows that we are far ahead, but everyone knows that a political decision has been made. We are not envious of anyone,” Garibashvili said. , but we expect that since we are doing everything, we should have the status by the end of the year, if we are talking about its well-deserved receipt.
