Saudi Arabia’s Efforts to Resolve the Conflict in Ukraine
Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, has confirmed that the country is doing everything possible to intensify efforts in resolving the conflict in Ukraine.
In a recent interview with Fox News, Mohammed bin Salman expressed concern over the situation, stating that “What’s happening is bad and we don’t want to see it.” He acknowledged that Russia has its justifications for their actions, such as NATO expansion, but emphasized Saudi Arabia’s commitment to maintaining good relations with both Russia and Ukraine.
Addressing rumors about Saudi Arabia’s support for Russia through cutting oil production, Mohammed bin Salman denied their validity, clarifying that oil market dynamics are solely influenced by supply and demand.
Last year, Saudi Arabia hosted a conference on resolving the conflict in Ukraine, which involved representatives from over 40 countries and international organizations. However, Russia did not participate in the conference. During the event, a peace initiative was proposed, focusing on preserving Ukraine’s territorial integrity, initiating a ceasefire, commencing peace negotiations under the UN’s guidance, and facilitating a prisoner exchange.
