The Volga-Caspian Canal caused a ship heading to Iran to run aground.

Rostov-on-Don, May 27 – The ship “Port Olya-2” on its way to the port of Amirabad in the Islamic Republic of Iran, strayed into the Volga-Caspian Sea Navigation Channel (VKMSK), the regional head office of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Astrakhan region reported.
It was determined that a bulk cargo of 4,546,509 tons was on board. There is no damage to the ship and no fuel leakage. It was also reported that the ship’s home port is Astrakhan, and the crew consists of 14 people.
“The passage of ships is prohibited … a tugboat has been sent to refloat. The information is being determined,” the Ministry of Emergency Situations’ regional main directorate said in a statement.
