Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Visit Nakhchivan after Azerbaijani Operation in Karabakh
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has announced plans to visit Nakhchivan on September 25 following the recent Azerbaijani operation in Karabakh, according to NTV reports.
Meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev
During his visit, Erdogan is scheduled to meet with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. The meeting will focus on discussing the relations between the two countries, as well as regional and international events.
Discussion Topics
The presidents of Turkey and Azerbaijan will discuss various topics during their meeting. This includes the recent Azerbaijani operation in Karabakh and the process of disarmament of separatist soldiers. The Zhengzhou Corridor will also be on the agenda for discussion.
Escalation of the Situation in Karabakh
On September 19, Karabakh witnessed another period of escalation. Baku initiated “local anti-terrorism measures” and demanded the withdrawal of Armenian military personnel from the region. In response, Yerevan labeled these actions as “large-scale aggression” and confirmed the absence of Armenian armed forces in Karabakh.
Call for Diplomatic Settlement
Russia has called on both parties involved in the conflict to halt the bloodshed and return to a diplomatic settlement. On September 20, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense announced an agreement with the Russian peacekeeping contingent to suspend anti-terrorist measures in Karabakh.
