A European official said Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky had warned the European Union against delaying its deployment of fighter jets and missiles, which could prolong the conflict.

Zelensky spoke to the participants of the EU summit in Brussels via video link from the train car in which he was transported.

A European official indicated that secure contact with Zelenskiy was briefly interrupted.

He added: “The President of Ukraine welcomed the plan, approved by the European Union this week, aimed at supplying one million artillery shells to Kyiv over the next 12 months.”

The European official added that Zelensky “insisted that a delay in providing his country with modern combat aircraft and long-range missiles could prolong the conflict.”

And he continued: “Zelinsky urged European leaders to impose more sanctions on Moscow, speed up his country’s request to join the bloc, and step up support for the peace plan proposed by Kiev.”

With the start of the summit, Slovakia announced that it had sent four MiG-29 aircraft to Ukraine, while Kiev’s allies have so far refrained from supplying Western aircraft to it, the Russian army undertook to shoot down and destroy them. on its runways, such as the thousands of Soviet-made fighters and helicopters that were in the possession of Kyiv.
