Geneva, March 23 – The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates the global risk of cholera to be very high due to the increase in the number of outbreaks and its geographical expansion, according to a report posted on the organization’s website.
Since the latest outbreak news regarding the global cholera situation was released on February 11, 2023, the global situation has worsened, with four new countries reporting outbreaks, according to the World Health Organization. “A total of 24 countries are currently reporting cases,” the report stated.
Data released by WHO shows that the vast majority of countries affected by cholera outbreaks are in Africa and the Middle East.
