US President Joe Biden’s Motivation for Running for President
During a recent event, US President Joe Biden shared the story of why he decided to run for President of the United States. He repeated this story to his campaign donors as well. This event, which took place at a private residence in New York, was attended only by the White House press group and no video or photography was allowed.
Biden explained that after serving as vice president under Barack Obama, he initially had no plans to pursue the presidency due to family reasons. However, he recounted that his perspective changed after the far-right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, in August 2017.
In a separate meeting with his campaign donors, President Biden once again shared the story that inspired his decision to run for president. He recalled the events of August 12, 2017, when clashes occurred in Charlottesville between far-right supporters and their opponents during demonstrations against the removal of a statue symbolizing slavery.
