Erdogan Loses in Historic Turkish Presidential Election

The Turkish newspaper Zaman reported on a public opinion poll showing that Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, the candidate of the opposition Alliance of Nations in the presidential elections, is 2.5 points ahead of the candidate of the Alliance of Nations, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The newspaper quotes Ozar Sincar, director of the research company Metropol, that before distributing the percentage of dissenters, Kılıçdaroğlu is ahead of Erdoğan by 2.5 points in a poll conducted in March this year.

The Turks are expected to elect a new president in addition to the 600 members of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, each for a five-year term.

Erdogan announced that the date of the presidential and parliamentary elections in Turkey is May 14, 2023.

Turkey’s supreme electoral body reported that the number of eligible Turkish voters is over 64 million, of which approximately 61 million live in Turkey.
