Ekaterinburg, March 29 – The case of Yekaterinburg Mayor Yevgeny Rosman * on defaming the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation was transferred to the Oktyabrsky District Court of the Ural capital, the News Agency reported in court.
“Our office recently received the case, but it has not been registered yet, so I cannot say when the first meeting will take place,” the agency’s spokesperson said.
Rozman’s lawyer * Vladislav Idamshabov previously noted that if the case was transferred to Moscow, where the prosecutor’s office approved the indictment, then this decision would be illegal, because according to regional jurisdiction, the place of the act should be considered – in Yekaterinburg.
Idamzhbov told the News Agency on Wednesday that the investigation into the case should not have taken place in Moscow. “If they revealed a crime or a crime, they should have sent materials for further investigation to Yekaterinburg, that is, the investigation should have been conducted with us as well,” he said.

The investigation explained that the reason for the trial in the case was a video clip that Rosman * posted on his YouTube channel, in which he talked about the political situation in the country, and made statements that undermined the authority of the Russian armed forces.
According to the Penal Code, under this article, the former mayor may face up to three years in prison with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for the same period. As an alternative – a fine of up to 300 thousand rubles, forced labor for a term of up to three years.
In March, Roizman * received 14 days of administrative detention for reposting a video on VKontakte containing the symbols of the Anti-Corruption Foundation **. At the same time, Roizman * himself stated that he had never registered on this social network.
