Internal medicine specialist Dr. Vladimir Neronov said flatulence could be a symptom of pancreatitis, or a bacterial imbalance in the gut microbiome.
In an interview with the Izvestia newspaper, the doctor points out that flatulence or excessive gas formation can occur against the background of serious illnesses, and not just due to malnutrition.
He says: “Bloating is an annoying problem because it causes discomfort and rumbling in the stomach. This condition can occur not only due to poor diet, but also due to serious diseases, including pancreatitis, a bacterial imbalance in the intestinal microbiome, irritable bowel syndrome”. , lactose intolerance and diseases of the internal organs and intestinal obstruction.
And he adds, explaining: Flatulence can occur in pregnant women due to hormonal changes. But the most common reason is not following a healthy diet. Eating a large amount of food, as well as the rapid consumption of food, causes flatulence.
And he says: “Food should be chewed well and not in a hurry, otherwise there will be flatulence and gas formation. Also, do not overeat foods that can cause flatulence. It is better not to consume sweetened drinks, carbonated mineral water, pastries, legumes, black and white bread, potatoes and other foods rich in starch and fast carbohydrates.
And he adds, flatulence can result from eating incompatible foods and products. For example, fruits are best eaten one hour before or two hours after a meal.
He says: “To treat the problem of flatulence, you should consult a gastroenterologist, who usually prescribes drugs that promote the absorption of gases. But, based on the cause of the disease, he may prescribe probiotics and enzyme preparations to restore the bacterial balance in the gut microbiome. In general, to get rid of this problem, you need to follow the right diet. Get rid of foods that cause discomfort.
